By now, many people have heard a jazz group improvise on the music of J.S. Bach. But has anyone heard an improvisation on the music of a well-known living composer? As far as we know, this has never been attempted before. So we hope you will join us either as a participant or as an audience member to explore this bold new territory at our NEW MUSIC JAM!
Hosted by the Brendan Faegre of the Edge Ensemble, the full evening consists of a workshop for participants to democratically discuss and improvise based on a piece of contemporary music.
This first edition consists of group improvisations based on "Instrumental I" from Louis Andriessen's M is for Man, Music, Mozart. The workshop starts at 18.15hrs and is open to all interested musicians (intermediate level and up). After the workshop (and meal) you will all improvise for a small audience.
Followed by prepared improvisations by the Edge Ensemble based on Andriessen's De Snelheid and Giacinto Scelsi's "String Quartet No. 4".
It's possible to join a really nice and healthy meal for €8,50 (drinks not included and musicians will pay €4,50) after the laboratory and before the concert.
Please let us know if you want to join the pre-concert laboratory by sending a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
