Eastern Neighbours Filmfestival op tournee in Het Nutshuis

Het Eastern Neighbours Film Festival (ENFF) Utrecht strijkt deze maand neer in Het Nutshuis. Gedurende twee avonden zijn prachtige documentaires, korte films en animaties te zien die tot de meest opwindende en interessante producties behoren die recentelijk in Oost-Europa tot stand zijn gebracht.
 
Met dit programma brengt het ENFF nieuwe, inspirerende, krachtige en kleurrijke films uit alle genres naar Nederland afkomstig uit een regio die geografisch gezien als Europees wordt aangeduid maar politiek gesproken niet, althans nog niet.

Speciaal voor Het Nutshuis presenteert het ENFF een selectie uit filmproducties die op overtuigende wijze laat zien hoe de regio, ondanks de economische depressie, bruist van levenslust en energie. De documentaires, korte films en animaties stellen een verscheidenheid aan sociale of politieke kwesties aan de orde, die soms leiden tot prangende vragen maar waarbij toch ook het nodige te (glim)lachen valt.
De gehele selectie bestaat uit werken van jonge en opkomende cineasten die een spraakmakende rol zullen gaan spelen in de Europese filmwereld.

ENFF
Alle films worden ingeleid door het ENFF, in de persoon van Mak Kapetanovic. Mak is afkomstig uit Sarajevo, maar woont en werkt als festivaldirecteur en filmproducent in Nederland. Hij zal een interessante kijk geven in de hedendaagse regionale cinematografische ontwikkelingen bij onze oosterburen en met plezier de vragen uit het publiek beantwoorden.

Alle films zijn Engels ondertiteld.

"This is just a little part of my gratefulness to my dad who abandoned his life-dream of becoming a symphonic conductor for my childhood's sake..." Mum died on Saturday in the Kitchen is the debut film of Maksym Vasyanovich, a young graduate of the National Theatre University in Kiev. An autobiographical story, the documentary is dedicated to his father who, back in the 80´s, had to chose between a family life and his life dream.

Starting January 1st 2007 Romania entered the European Union. One immediate consequence was that its border with the Republic of Moldova became the last border between the European Union and its East. These developments had a twofold impact, both on countries such as Moldova and Ukraine, whose "defective" transitions make them weak and implausible EU candidates, as well as on minority groups such as Poles, Slovakians and Romanians living in these countries but still connected by various lifelines to the economies of their mother-countries.
