DODO SERIES: TURKEY PORTRAITS

DODO SERIES: TURKEY PORTRAITS
THURS: 31 MAY | 20:00 | Tickets: € 5 (students € 4) | Reservations: info@nutshuis.nl

While everyone seems to have a soft spot for Turkish cinema, that is for contemporary fiction feature films, there´s still a lot to be said for their slightly lesser known sibling: documentary making. With a history of almost a full century, Turkish documentaries have undergone a radical change in the last two decades, casting a more investigative and somehow critical look on the social, political and cultural contemporary aspects of the country.
During the 2 months of Turkey Portraits in Het Nutshuis, our DODO series will feature 3 evenings of docs + talks about Turkey, moderated by Naima Azough.

ATTILA'S CHOICE
Photographer Attila Durak, also presenting his exhibition EBRU: Reflections on Cultural Diversity in Turkey in Het Nutshuis, is the guest programmer of this DODO edition. On 31 May, Attila presents a Turkish documentary and joins a discussion with moderator Naima Azough.

The dodo (Raphus Cucullatus) stood about a metre tall, weighing about 20 kilos, living on fruit and nesting on the ground. DODO is the documentary film programme in Het Nutshuis. We screen on Thursday.
