DoDo Series: FILMS AND FOOD
One last DODO series before the closing of the year, guaranteed to be a special one. In November and December we offer you three film evenings, each paired with a unique culinary experience. We invite you to return to the Filmkluis for this series of entertaining documentaries about food, and to join us in the Cafe for a cooking workshop (Nov 8), a bite out of a food installation (Nov 29) or during the pop-up Time/Restaurant (Dec 20).

Het Nutshuis’ Pop-up Time/Restaurant
Film and Dinner
The last edition of DODO 2012 is an invitation to think about the future and act alternatively.
Time/Bank Stroom Den Haag (a platform promoting the use of TIME as alternative currency in the community) will be presenting the 4th edition of their pop-up restaurant in Het Nutshuis. The menu of the Time/Restaurant will be prepared by Israeli chef Yuval Red, and will be all about sharing traditional village food at the communal table. Dinner will be preceded by the screening of the American documentary Food, Inc. (Robert Kenner) – a film that provides critical insight into how the food industry has transformed over the years, and how our consumption habits have drastically increased over the last 6 decades.

In May 2011 Stroom Den Haag opened the Dutch branch of the e-flux Time/Bank, a platform and community for the cultural sector where goods and services can be exchanged without the use of money. The current distrust of existing financial and economic systems and the radical cuts in art funding are an important driving force behind this parallel micro economy based on trust and solidarity.
The Dutch Time/Bank Network
The Dutch branch of Time/Bank is part of a network of cultural institutions and companies. They will accept the Time/Bank Hour Notes when you buy a ticket or when purchasing something in their restaurants of bookstores.
One of the projects run by Time/Bank is a series of Pop-Up Time/Restaurants.
The jury of the Accenture Innovation Awards 2012 (AIA12) has nominated Time/Bank Stroom Den Haag for the jury - the Blue Tulip - Award and the Audience Award. See their Facebook page for more information.
The dodo (Raphus Cucullatus) stood about a metre tall, weighing about 20 kilos, living on fruit and nesting on the ground. DODO is the documentary film programme in Het Nutshuis.
